Being a carefree barefoot nut with my friend Maryellen running around New Hope, Pennsylvania in the late 60s trying to either intimidate or impress the hippie tourists, and walking on the towpath along the canal. Also every beach I've ever enjoyed... Ocean Beach Park New London, Connecticut — Beach Haven and Island Beach State Park, New Jersey — Misquiamicutt, Rhode Island — Hampton Beach, New Hampshire — Ocean Beach San Francisco, California — Winthrop Beach, Massachusetts — Breakers Palm Beach, Florida — Chappaquiddic Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts — Long Beach Penninsula, Washington ... where next?...

The year 2007. I have not barefooted this much since the mid 70’s, barefoot hippy college days. My feet are getting into shape and it really feels great. I love the heat of black pavement and the massage of rocks and gravel.
Fern.....I'm really happy about your successful, first of many, barefoot gigs ;))))))))

I'm with Grasshopper!
It's all good and well being friends with someone, but it would be nice to have a face (or feet!) to put to the name :)

I’ve told you Fern that I don’t have a digital camera, have never had cable TV or a fucking cell phone. Since words alone don’t seem to do it in this day and age, I’ll try to borrow a camera.

cape florida lighthouse... a refreshing peaceful image, terry. there's lots of beautiful free photography on the web. just click and drag... no need for a camera... technology... incredible how it's changed in our lifetime. and instead of borrowing a camera you could ask a friend to use their camera then email pics to you. sharing... could be fun...

be in joy

My favorite barefoot memory happens about every day in the stable walking across mounds of warm new freshly laid road apples squishing up thru my toes. Hmmm. Yummy

My favorite barefoot memory would be about 4 summers ago, when I'd been jogging on gravel for months, and was able to stand new asphalt on a humid, 95 degree day. It felt like I was wearing flip flops all the time, and I felt so confident walking anywear sans shoes. Now I just need the free time to jog again :-)

Admittedly, living in Southern California just a few blocks from the beach helps. But I grew up barefoot and still love it. Even now when I am out with all my girllfriends most of them wear flips but not me. I love feeling the ever changing surface materials under my bare soles and occasionally being able to caress then by wrapping my toes around them. Yes, by the end of the day my soles get rather disgustingly dirty but I don't care. Barefeet are the only way to go.

My favourite barefoot memory's of hiking in bare feet as a kid aged about 6.It felt so good
I've never stopped doing it since.I love the way I just plow on through mud,water,leaves-
well pretty much anything in my path.My feet grip better than shoes, and they're easy to clean
when dirty. There are just so many reasons to go barefoot!
Add to that they don't leak, pinch,or need resoling, and the more I use them the tougher they
get,and you can see nature didn't need us to wear shoes.

It was meeting a barefoot girl in Greenwich Village in NYC. I said "I see we both like the same color shoes!" as her feet were as filthy as mine. We dated for a while until she moved away. She lived with her mom in the Village. Her mom used to go barefoot all the time and had the calluses to prove it! She didn't barefoot in the City. She also didn't mind at all that we would come into the (fairly upscale) apartment with very dirty feet.
