I HATE driving with shoes on. Can't do it.
    • For us of the Barefoot Tribe, driving with shoes on is much safer. It is important to note that each place you travel has different laws. However, even if the cop tells you it is illegal, you just raise your eyebrows, "O, I didn't know i couldn't do that... as soon as i get home, I'll put a pair of sandals in the car for driving with, sir." You don't have to mean any of it. And, as long as you don't start off arguing with him/her, they'll let you off. If you also go into a long speel about how good it feels to be barefoot, with a sweet sweet smile on your face, they'll let you off all other offenses, too. This trick works best with sweet young thangs... either you or the officer...
We know driving is safer, because we can feel the pedals, we know when we're connected to it, and it only takes a toe to change the speed perfectly.
FEEL YOUR BODIES>>> How do people drive, in the winter ice especially, with huge boots on? hmm.. I guess I've done it. I do it, but it is much more dangerous, because we have to be SOO concentrated on what we feel going on between our icy boots and the pedal. But our boots don't have nerve endings, and the pedal edges are not obvious.
  • I've heard that it is illegal for reasons beyond my understanding. Even if it is technically illegal I doubt anyone gets busted for it. In all the times I've been with someone who got pulled over, never once has a cop asked to see the person's feet. I imagine it's one of the last things on their minds, they're too focused on speeding and insurance violations and drugs to be worried abou footwear. Maybe if they searched you would it be a problem... they'd probably just warn you anyway. I love to drive barefoot, it's so much more comfortable!
