Barefoot in Australia

Hey all,

I intend to travel a bit in Australia, preferently from Sidney to Brisbane. I am not a hardcore barefooter, but I enjoy walking and being barefoot as long as possible. How "barefoot-friendly" is Australia? Heard you often see people barefoot there. I will travel there in November, so Southeast should be warm.
Can you recommend me some "Do's" and "Don'ts" concerning barefoot walking in AUS? Have you made good or bad experiences there?
Greetings from Switzerland

Hey Roberto. I'm pretty hardcore about walking barefoot almost anywhere but when it comes to Australia I'd do like you're doing...ask someone. I mean Australia has a bunch of poisonous snakes and spiders, not to mention that little jelly fish that can do you in in minutes. But then the aborigines seem to be cool with all that and barefoot. Maybe you'll get lucky and some abbo just back from a walkabout will see your post and answer your question. Good luck bro but carry a snake bite kit.

Well billy, I don't think I'll go for bigger walkabouts (lol)...Also I hope I don't walk into a Snake in Sidney. Just wundered if barefoot walking is something often seen and tolerated or if people stare at you as if you were completely mad. Had such experiences in Spain for example...:)

        Hi Roberto,
I'm almost certain that going barefoot in Australia is not uncommon.
        Happy day,
        Love Fern

How is it in New Zealand? Such a beautiful spot in this Earth must be visited once in a lifetime :-)

NZ is fantastic, such a great country to live in.
You know, if you're traveling all the way to Australia you may as well pop over to NZ. We have some beautiful sights and us kiwis are really friendly :)
Also, it's a great country for barefooting, most of the time people don't even notice. It's not unusual to walk around barefoot, especially in summer.
            Happy day,
            Love Fern

Well, the thing is: I don't have that much time to go over there. I'd like to spend some more time there and not just a couple of days. But one thing is certain: I will go there, well prepared with a good camera and with well trained footsoles *lol*

              Love Rob
