Well, after reading about good barefoot memories in another topic posted here let's go to something different. Have you ever hat a bad barefoot experience, ever stept somewhere you didn't want to? Ever been in a situation where you were forced to walk in somewhere absolutely dirty, e.g. a public toilet that was disgusting? What would be the limit? Where wouldn't you be ready to step in? :-) Let's get a bit dirty :-)

Re: a disgusting experience?
Fri, August 31, 2007 - 11:58 AMHi Roberto. Well there's disgusting and DISGUSTING. I walk around in the corrals all the time barefoot thru horse crap both gushy fresh and dried and it's no big deal. Never gotten sick and I can hose off or walk thru the creek. But walking around in a public restroom near the urinals or in the stalls I would rather not do barefoot or in an auto shop or anywhere theres grease cuz that aint coming off that easy. You were mentioning walking around cities in Australia barefoot. I lived on the streets in LA for a while and spent much time walking barefoot but I can remember spending a lot more time than I wanted to constantly looking out for broken glass, chewing gum, spit, etc. etc. The countryside is definitely cleaner and more user friendly than city streets. -

Re: a disgusting experience?
Sat, September 1, 2007 - 10:29 AMThings I commonly have to dodge whilst walking barefoot are:
- dog poo
- spit
- vomit
-the floors of public bathrooms (always a safety hazard, my rule is, if it smells okay, and you can't see any "spills" on the floor then you should be safe)
The most horrible thing I've ever stepped on in barefeet is a snail. Gross! All crunchy yet slimy and oozy all at the same time. Not a good feeling. I'm a talented barefoot walker though; I'm really good at seeing potential gross things I could stand in from a distance and always manage to avoid them :)
Happy day!

Re: a disgusting experience?
Sun, September 2, 2007 - 3:49 PMwell dear fern I think the thing is that walking barefoot you become more aware of what you are standing in. It's the same when you walk outside in the green and you have to avoid thorns or sharp stones. You start looking more carefully where you step in and become more aware of the ground.
My worst experience was in India, an indian toilet, and it looked terrible, I mean, it was not really clean (I mean, not at all)...I'll spare you the details...:-)
